4年前の型紙

４年ほど前、足袋を作りたかったのですが、足袋の型紙の本が見つかりませんでした。

ネット上にも作り方は見当たりませんでした。

※今となっては、足袋の型紙をネット通販で売っていることを知っているのですが。当時はたしか気づかなかったと思います。

そこで、自分の持っている足袋の写真を撮って、パソコン上で線をトレースして作ったのがこちら。

線がぶっとくて、印刷すると線がガタガタです。

画像編集ソフトのペンツールで、マウスで出来上がり線をなぞっただけ、だった気がします

問題点

で、これが売れるか分からずにブログに載せたところ、意外とけっこう売れたんですよ。

でもやっぱり、

• この太すぎる線のどこを縫えばいいんですか、真ん中？外側？内側？
• 文字が読みづらい

といった質問をまれに受けていました。

ベクター化

そんな中、AIの登場により、この手書き線をベクター化してくれる機能が現れました。

ベクターとは、こんな感じで線を点ごとではなく流れのデータとして持つことですよ。

結果

これによりとても楽にきれいな線を描けるようになりました。

それを元に、さらに別のAIが足袋プログラムを修正してくれました。

そこでできたのがこちら。

僕はいろんなスキルがありますが、全部ほどほどなんですよ。

• CAD（製図）
• プログラミング
• 英語

それをAIが、かなり高いプロレベルまで押し上げてくれるわけなんです。

今後もAIと僕の幅広いスキルで、日本の伝統文化に貢献していきます。

My pattern from four years ago

About four years ago, I wanted to make tabi, but I couldn’t find a single book with tabi patterns.

I couldn’t find any instructions online either.

*Now I know that tabi patterns are sold online, but I don’t think I noticed back then.

So I took photos of a pair of tabi I owned and traced the lines on my computer. This is what I made.

The lines are really thick, and when you print it, they look jagged.

I think I just traced the finished lines with a mouse, using the pen tool in an image editor.

The problems

I posted it on my blog without knowing whether it would sell, and surprisingly, it sold quite well.

But of course, it had its issues.

• Where on this thick line am I supposed to sew? The middle, the outside, or the inside?
• The text is hard to read.

Once in a while, customers asked me questions like these.

Vectorization

Then AI came along, and with it, tools that can vectorize hand-drawn lines like mine.

“Vector” means storing a line not as individual dots but as data describing its flow, like this.

The result

This made it much easier to draw clean lines.

Based on those lines, another AI then revised my tabi pattern program.

And here is the result.

I have a lot of different skills, but I’m only moderately good at each of them.

AI lifts them up to a fairly high, professional level.

Going forward, I’ll keep contributing to traditional Japanese culture with AI and my wide range of skills.
