We always used to have cream teas when we were on holiday or at our grandparents house. They are a VERY British thing and the choice of tea etc is very important. Like i said to you before Twinings is thought of as very British but often there are even posh teas that I don’t even know the name of... some friends of mine got engaged recently and to celebrate we went for cream tea in posh London hotel.
It is very tradition thing to do when there is a birthday or something, you get some sandwiches served to you first, then the scones and then some cakes (it's so good!).
The other places you will always find cream tea is by the seaside, there tend to be tiny little cafes that serve the cream teas on the gardens in the sunshine. I took a photo of one for you here:
This is tiny little place run by a really old woman that sells homemade scones. This is where you would go on when you are on holiday.
To eat scones I dont really make scones myself. They are too easy to buy in the supermarkets over here but I have friends who make them and they are much better!
The argument about cream and jam is probably better explained here. These are two counties (our equivalent of prefectures) that argue about the order of the jam and cream!
